Linji (house)

One of the "Five Houses of Chinese Chan" descended through Linji Yixuan: the archetypal iconoclast of Chan (with shouts, blows, and the "true person of no rank").  Much of living Chan-derived practice traces to Linji as it crossed to Japan as Rinzai, to Korea as the dominant strand of Seon, and to Vietnam as Lâm Tế.
